founded by Politecnico di Milano, is part of the POLITECNICO DI MILANO DESIGN SYSTEM jointly with the School of Design and the Department of Design of the Politecnico di Milano, the Research Doctorate in Design, its teaching and research laboratories. Together, these institutions represent one of the most important bodies in the field of design in the university context, on an international level. POLI.design operates in the field of DESIGN, acting as an interface between universities, companies, and professional organizations, institutions and bodies. It develops training programmes for young graduates and professionals, as well as training programmes for companies that are closely focussed on innovation. It operates from the perspective of internationalisation, establishing partnerships of purpose with universities, schools, bodies, POLI.design institutions, enterprises, and companies, on a case-by-case basis. It is a flexible structure that draws on the deep reservoir of internal skills at the Politecnico di Milano, and thus has access to the deep reservoir of multidisciplinary skills in the first and most important technical university in Italy. POLI.design puts advanced teaching and research methods to the test, consolidates and anticipates the professional skills needed to adapt to the new demands of a society undergoing a radical transformation, and brings into line the supply of training and research developed in a university context, with the demand for innovation of the world of production, and of society.
The cornerstone of POLI.design lies in the disciplines of design and related professions. This design dimension is broader and more systematic, it has strategic importance as it not only deals with product dimension, but also with the areas of communication, service, space, fashion, and events.

Location & Facilities
The headquarters of POLI.design and the campus of the SCHOOL OF DESIGN of the Politecnico Milano are located in Bovisa, a district to the North of the city, not far from the city centre, in a place that is symbolic of the industrial Milan of the past. The district is currently undergoing a broad process of urban transformation, and is set to become a centre of excellence for higher education, research, and innovation. The campus of the School of Design is situated alongside other important buildings, such as the School of Architecture and the School Engineering.
MILAN: POLI.design is based in Milan, a universally known and recognised international centre of excellence for DESIGN. Today it is the largest international university for training product, communication, interior, and fashion designers, both in terms of the number of students, and in terms of the number of teachers. It is active on two locations, Milan and Como, with two very recently built campuses. Some figures describing its extent: around 5000 students, more than 400 professors and around 400 teaching assistants, subject experts and honorary fellows; more than 900 graduates working as professional designers or employed in manufacturing and service companies. The Politecnico di Milano SCHOOL OF DESIGN, evolved from the degree course in Industrial Design OF THE POLITECNICO DI MILANO, the first of its kind in Italy, leading to the establishment of the Faculty of Design, today known as the SCHOOL OF DESIGN. Its purpose has always been to search for new innovative lines of development that reflect the demands of the market and of contemporary society.
The numerous permanent structures, cultural institutions, fairs and showrooms, publishing industry, learning institutions, displays, exhibitions, and events that the city has to offer contribute to a lively cultural and dynamic environment that feeds the professional activities and the training and learning process. Milan is a centre of design not just in terms of the designers themselves, but also the associations, the publishing industry related to the sector, the places for training and cultural promotion, and the opportunities for visibility and representing products and ideas. Design is without a doubt one of its strengths and major attractions of Milan and the Lombardy region. Milan is a great Design Brand that maintains its leading position, constantly striving to devise new forms of knowledge relating to design, experimentation, ideas, stylistic and formal codes, predictions of usage behaviour and consumer models. Today, Milan boasts a dense network of relationships with many national and international businesses that keep their ear to the ground in Milan, and organise activities of great visibility, events, and exhibitions, making use of the readily available design resources. The city has seen a visible increase in the number of design schools, associations, young people whose profession involves design, design initiatives, businesses open to design, and of the relationships between Milan and the global capitals of production of the design culture.

POLI.design proposes MASTERS and Higher Education COURSES for professionals that deal with current themes in design. POLI.design offers Master Level Courses and Advanced vocational training courses to young graduates with first and second level Masters. These are aimed at a continuous updating of professional profiles in the field of design. POLI.design is aimed at professionals, offering them the possibility of enriching and channelling their expertise according to the most current technical and design knowledge.
MASTERS: POLI.design offers first and second level Specializing Masters of one year, including an internship period of one year in companies, businesses or professional firms.
The classroom training foresees a learning mix of class lessons, seminars and design workshops with contributions and external inputs from the world of business and the professional sector. Following a curricular selection, the Specializing Master can be taken by Italian

From active to interactive fashion, sportswear and lifestyle design, I Edition February 2018; Sectors: Fashion, Product.
The athletic gesture comes out of the stadiums and inspires everyday life, while new interactive technologies and materials are changing lifestyles and consumption patterns. Fashion is permeated by sport and sport is inspired by fashion for garments that combine performance and style. These are the projects designed at the Specializing Master in Fashion Tech of the Politecnico di Milano, managed by POLI.design. A course dedicated to the futures scenarios of fashion, open to contamination between sport and fashion, competition and leisure, but also wearable technologies for interactive accessories. The Specializing Master is held in English.
The Specializing Master in Fashion Tech meets the needs of the market that requires innovative products and designers with technical and creative skills and knowledge on new materials, technologies and fashion languages.
The Master consists of a theoretical part devoted to new materials and technologies, sport’s culture, the new scenarios of interactive design for fashion and the methods of digital and multimedia representation. The testimonies of many athletes will complete the theoretical knowledge with their agonistic experiences. There are also five design workshops devoted to the production of finished products focused on Fashion Tech for Lifestyle Design, Active wear Design, Sportswear Design, Performance Sportswear Design, Interactive Fashion. In each workshop, lecturers will be professionals of the sector, who will interact with leading companies in order to provide students with skills and professional methodologies.
The Specializing Master grants 60 CFU, equivalent to 60 ECTS. Upon completion, students earn a Politecnico di Milano First level Specializing Master diploma in Fashion Tech: From active to interactive fashion, sportswear and lifestyle design. Nowadays, the term Healthcare indicates a process that requires the creation of a new complex and multifactorial system in which technological factors, organizational, and human dimensions must find a balanced mix to provide safe and high quality care for patients. This also requires clinically effective and well-designed medical devices, as well as effective and reliable healthcare services based upon innovative technologies and systems, and the related organizational models to be implemented. In the last 20 years the technological development of biomedical devices has reached an enormous progress, in terms of high performance and reliability, and also for safety and quality. Today medicine involves the use of many equipment and devices for the diagnosis, therapy and rehabilitation and to support the correct clinical decision or the best treatment. Healthcare industry is requiring this multidisciplinary approach and know-how. The Specializing Master Product Service System Design for Healthcare aims at providing the students with the fundamentals for designing biomedical devices, starting from the basics of methodologies and technologies for the measurement of physiological signals in clinical and home care applications.

The Specializing Master in Industrial Design Engineering and Innovation is aimed at graduates in polytechnic disciplines (engineering, architecture, industrial design).

The Specializing Master in Color Design and Technology, held in collaboration with Associazione Italiana Colore, aims to provide advanced training to professionals, so as to enable them to understand and manage the many technological and design issues, often across many disciplinary areas, typical of all those professional and research sectors in which the use and management of color are essential. Examples of such production areas include industrial product design, interior architecture, communication, fashion, entertainment and urban planning.
Degree: After completing the course and on passing the final exam, the 1st level Specializing Master "Color Design & Technology" certification will be issued. The Specializing Master grants 60 CFU, equivalent to 60 ECTS.

The Specializing Master in Yacht Design of the Politecnico di Milano collects and consolidates opportunities and resources developed by the University, with particular reference to skills in the fields of industrial design, fluid dynamics, mechanics, materials science; on the other hand it uses resources, experience and expertise acquired at a number of other Italian universities including: University "Federico II" of Naples, University of Catania and University of Chieti.
Goals.
